Credit Information
Starting in 7th grade, students need to start earning credits to attend high school. This page explains the credits they need and has information for summer school if students need to retrieve credits due to failing a class during the school year.
According to Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) 389.445, students must complete 1.5(one and one-half) credits in mathematics, 1.5(one and one-half) credits in English or reading, 1 (one) credit in science, and 1 (one) credit in social studies with a passing grade during seventh and eighth grade for promotion to high school. .5(one-half) credit is the equivalent of one semester.
- If your student does not receive a passing grade in a core class, summer school is the only option to retrieve that credit.
- Summer school is offered through CCSD or online programs. Doral currently does not offer credit retrieval options, so families will have to pay for any summer school courses that need to be taken.
